Parking allows you to do just that.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re new to NumberBarn and are not sure where to begin, this guide will walk you through the steps to <strong>port and park a number with our service<\/strong>. You&#8217;ll also find that we weave helpful links into the guide below, in case you&#8217;re looking for additional details on a process.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is porting?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rI8bDdwC4J4\">Porting means<\/a> transferring your phone number from one service provider to another. Let&#8217;s say your number is with Tomato Wireless. You will port your active number from Tomato Wireless to NumberBarn. The number will eventually no longer be with Tomato Wireless and you&#8217;ll no longer pay them for service. Instead, you&#8217;ll pay NumberBarn. This process takes anywhere from 3-10 business days.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is parking?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rI8bDdwC4J4\">Parking means<\/a> storing your number in an active status. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/blog\/why-would-i-park-a-number\/\" data-wplink-edit=\"true\">Read more about the why and how to park your number here<\/a>. Our Park service is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/pricing\">$2\/month<\/a> and includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your active phone number<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/SWewJ2J0Vt4\">Incoming and outgoing text messages<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/blog\/custom_message_park\/\">A recording<\/a> to notify your callers that your number is parked. You can use our standard recording or create your own. When you select the <strong>Check<\/strong>\u00a0button, <em>we do not check<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If your number is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/blog\/lost-number\/\"><em>active<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li>If your number is <em>portable<\/em><\/li>\n<li>If you have any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/blog\/before_transferring_your_number\/\">contractual obligations<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/blog\/have-a-service-bundle\/\">service bundles<\/a> on your account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The items above are your responsibility to verify, as a phone number owner. If you&#8217;re not sure, you&#8217;ll want to <em>check with your current service provider<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you see the green checkmark, great! Passwords must be at least 6 characters and contain at least one letter and one number.<\/li>\n<li>A green checkmark mean your information fits into our text fields. If you see a red checkmark, it means there is an error with your information.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Next Step.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2026 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Screen-Shot-2018-04-26-at-9.59.02-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the number you are porting is a wireless number, enter your <strong>account number and PIN<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Note the account number and PIN are required by your current service provider to port away and only used for internal purposes. They will not be stored on your NumberBarn account.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Next Step.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2027 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Screen-Shot-2018-04-26-at-10.01.39-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"532\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enter your payment information.<\/li>\n<li>We will bill you when your number port completes to your account and then on a monthly basis around that same date every month. If you have selected the annual park plan, you will be billed every year around that same date.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Review My Order<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2029 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.numberbarn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Screen-Shot-2018-04-26-at-10.05.02-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"459\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you need to make any changes, select <strong>edit<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If everything looks good, select <strong>Place My Order<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What happens next: Authorize your Port Request<\/h3>\n<p>Congrats! You have successfully initiated your port request. Now, you must verify your number and authorize the port. This tells us that you are the rightful owner of the phone number and gives us permission to submit your port to your current provider for review. Here&#8217;s how to make that happen:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m6IF7sVAJ4g\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>What happens next: Waiting for a status update<\/h3>\n<p>After you have authorized your number port, we send the port request to your current provider for review.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Do not cancel your number with your current service provider. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>When they <em>approve<\/em> the port, we&#8217;ll notify you of the date in which it is scheduled to port.<\/li>\n<li>If the port is rejected, we&#8217;ll notify you and let you know why.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Porting takes anywhere from 3-10 business days to complete.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the time you are waiting for a status update, you can configure your number settings. The tutorial below will guide you through the process of updating your Park message:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SWw5CEFqzYo\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>What happens next: Porting status updates<\/h3>\n<p>When your port request is approved:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We email you to confirm\u00a0the scheduled date of porting. The subject line of this email will be, &#8220;<em>Transfer Approved: (xxx) xxx-xxxx<\/em>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<li>On that date, we will email you to let you know your number has activated. The subject line of this email will be, &#8220;<em>Transfer Complete:\u00a0(xxx) xxx-xxxx<\/em>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<li>All support notifications come from our address of &#8220;<em>support@numberbarn.com<\/em>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<li>On the date in which your number ports to us, is will then be safe to cancel your account with your existing provider.<\/li>\n<li>You must contact your service provider to cancel your account.
