Can’t update my account – what gives?

You’re trying to login to your NumberBarn account to update your payment information because you just got a new credit card with a rockin’ points system.

You visit our login page, enter your information and click the Login button.

The site keeps looping you back to the “Hello you are logged” in page and won’t let you click any links to update your info.

What gives?!

You write to our friendly customer support team and tell you, “This sounds like a caching issue. Just clear your cache!”

What is a cache?

In a nutshell, a cache is a temporary storage location. During a website visit, your browser takes snippets of the pages and stores them on your computer’s hard drive for easy access when you visit that page again in the future. This article goes into way more detail to give you a better idea of how caching works.

Why do I need to clear my cache?

Sometimes, in the wild world of the internet, the cache can get confused and things may not load correctly on a website, like your username and password. When you “clear the cache” it gives a fresh start on loading the page, allowing you to login successfully.

Another way to picture it if you’re feeling festive: someone throws gobs confetti in your house. They drank too much wine and well, felt festive. The confetti gets lodged in the furniture, carpet, you name it. FUN! After a while, it gets really annoying to find old pieces of confetti everywhere. It’s time to clear it up.

How do I clear my cache?

If you’re logged into your NumberBarn account on a computer, tablet, cell phone, mobile browser, laptop, ice cream cone (ok just kidding about the last one), logout. This means you must physically hit the “logout button” on your screen.

If you are on our Mobile App, please log out and log back in to clear the cache.

If that doesn’t work, you might have to completely delete the Mobile App from your phone and re-install.
